Hi All,
I'm sure this is just another quick one, but how do you configure RM Server Backup to backup to an external HDD. I tried putting G:\Backups\ into the media type but it doesn't work :(

Follow as if using rdx drive. You will need to ignore bits about channels it is the reg settings you need to change.

Make sure got rmbackup version v2.47.17.0 or higher..

RMBackup is a front-end to NTBackup. Take a look at using NTBackup GUI because it allows so much more than the RM front-end.
(Just go Start->Run then type ntbackup and click okay)
That's brilliant, thanks.
This would be my preference and is what I did when I first got out to these primary schools, just to get an emergency backup of the data while I worked through the RM stuff. Apparantly there are issues with restoring the CC4 database and blah blah blah. Staying with the RM thing is what the schools want and it keeps it simple I guess.
Well technically not true as rmbackup tool is a program that sorts out some rm database backup and then runs ntbackup command line. So really if can do it in ntbackup you can set RM backup to do it just need to know what bits to edit. :)
But as user pointed out for a primary school so could be a good chance someone other than the OP might need to do the restore so using standard rmback up makes sense. :)
