We are going to have a few monitors going spare after the Summer hols, and one little project being discussed is to create a video wall.
If we had 9 screens (a 3 x 3 'grid') we'd have to have 9 computers, 1 for each screen, or is their gadgetry out there that could do this for us?
I know nothing about this sort of thing, so some clue would be good.
No you don't need 9 computers, in fact I think that would make it really hard to do. Is it something like this :Wall Solutions you are looking for? If so, then a specialist graphics card in a reasonably powerful machine will do the job nicely.

But isn't that just going to split one signal to 16 screens and treat them as 16 individual screens?

A couple of ATI eyefinity cards in a single machine would give you up to 12 screen outputs and plenty of graphics power, you could easily play most modern games across the whole screen array.
