Hi,
I have a Exchange Server 2007 setup and the default global address list. But we have just setup over 1200 pupil e-mail accounts on an external system. What i would like tobe able to do is to setup another GAL or address list to hold these new 1200 accounts. I do not want them inside my current GAL.
So far I have created a new address list through the Enterprise console but i am having trouble adding the 1200 new e-mail addresse/contacts to it.

We do ours with a rule and a custom attribute in the mail account to assign them to the correct GAL after creating it.
Could you please explain how i would go about doing this.

In Organization Config -> Address Lists Create the address book there. First Screen select "The Following Specific types" and select "Users with Exchange mailboxes", "Resource mailboxes", "Mail-enabled groups" Then click Next
Under conditions select "Custom Attribute <number> Value and fill in the bottom with the correct attribute name. then Next out.
This will setup the rule. Then in the mailboxes (can do this in Powershell) assign the mailboxes with the custom attribute that you put in the rule.
User Powershell Command
Get-Mailbox -OrganizationalUnit "OU Name" | Set-Mailbox -CustomAttribute1 <attribute value>
Group Powershell Command
Get-Group -OrganizationalUnit "OU Name" | Set-DistributionGroup -CustomAttribute1 <Attribute Value>
