Online survey

We have to provide a survey for the pupils to complete regarding how they feel about their lesson. A web-based form would probably be the most practical method, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has done something similar, and what they'd recommend.

That's a coincidence, I'm doing exactly the same. I'm playing with this SurveyMonkey.com - Powerful tool for creating web surveys. Online survey software made easy! which does pretty much what I want. Only trouble is the payment has to be in USD and that might be tricky for us. I'm experimenting with the free version, doing a simple survey on the new Y5 intakes views on their Transfer Day.

LimeSurvey is what I use @ LimeSurvey

Yeah I'd agree, we use limesurvey here. Its very easy to setup and use.

We use moodle to carry out surveys and questionnaires

Before I started they used to just keep creating free accounts here, but were fed up with the restrictions. One of the first jobs I was given was to sort out a proper SurveyMonkey subscription. Sooo I signed up, got the invoice generated and then handed it to the finance office and said "we need to pay this" :p

Took them a few weeks to sort out that USD payment!

Thanks soulfish. The standard version is very limited but the full version looks idea. Trouble with getting accounts to sort out the USD payment is that SurveyMonkey want the money upfront, so it would mean a long delay. If we do go for it I'll probably pay on my credit card and claim back. Makes the exchange rate simpler that way.

I tried looking at the Limesurvey link but that just said to email John Moss for details.

Limesurvey is at LimeSurvey.org - THE Survey software - free and open source!. We are starting to use it but may go over to Moodle surveys once that is up and running. Limesurvey is grand though.

Used Lime a few times here - never had any real issues.

AFAIK, they now have a cheap-to-free hosted service - would seem to overcome some of the barriers to entry, i'd definitely check it out if I was doing a first time survey.

If the survey is in-house only, though, a VM with ubuntu+apache+lime should do nicely, and it won't be accessible outside, which might help allay any DP concerns.

I've used AskPeople: Easy, quick & simple online feedback surveys, polls and questionnaire forms with great success here.

Shoved Ubuntu server on an old GX260 and just installed this. Proved very sucessful recently in a survey that kids did.

get a google apps account, this will put a survey online that you can export into excel

I get relevent members of staff to create a survey using word. I then use the word document to create a the survey using the form tools with Acrobat Pro 9. It can be mailed out and the responses collected in a mailbox.

Power League | Home is fantastic for this. Well worth spending some time on for comparisons.

We use the built-in survey facility that comes with Sharepoint, it's free with Server 2003
