Does anyone know wether the school would be breaking any software licensing rule by installing the SmartBoard software onto a students laptop?
Currently it is installed on the machines connected to the boards and the teachers laptops only.
Cheers.

it should stay connected to the boards and teachers laptops. If the children want it, you would need to make them a member of staff (according to there own T's&C's)
what software is it? is it activstudio at all?
Which version,
I was always under the impression that Smartboard Software (pre version 10) could be used on any computer as long as it wasn't attached to a competitor's whiteboard. It's freely available from their web site.
Version: 10.0.124.0
they changed the Ts & Cs on versions 8 and upwards to be the same as version 10. Whilst it is freely available (up to 10), you MUST be a registered member of the staff in a school, with a valid staff email address.
Really? I thought that students could use Notebook too? Has that changed??
<rush off to check terms of use....>
So students are okay, so long as they uninstall it when the leave the school...Quote:
