Thats assuming the EC2 is doing a log of processing with 'high i/o performance'.

Or you can buy some hardware and have something to show for your 100-200 pounds at the end of it, you also get local performance if you want to use it for something more interesting. You can also sell it on ebay when your done with it unlike EC2 time.
