Having been here at easter (well close enough!) Entire new switch room and 40% of Dis-Boards changed / replaced meant no power for 2 weeks (and it was nearly 2 weeks and 1 day as I was still on-site at 2AM waiting for the last bits of electric to be returned, that was 2AM on the day we re-opened to students at 8AM! They can probably supply your data rack with a temp supply we got one, it cost but it was agreed, that way at least you can work remotely from home which is what we did to the best of our skills, as my photos that friends saw they know how good a 4 way lead was and my temp desk in the corridor where we had power. Certainly well worth talking to all those involved and making them aware of all the issues it could be as some SLT just don't get exactly what 0 power means until it happens. I know of one that said oh its fine we don't need to come in to work as we can work from home remotely..... (the penny didn't drop that quick to alert them to the fact of 0 power on-site = no workey from home either!!)

"isn't that what those UPS things are for? You know, uninterruptible power supply that cost a couple of grand last year" was what fell out of one of my heads mouths when we had two days planned outage for a new distribution board, yeah sure, it'll hold up for a couple of days, NOT! ^_-

This happened for us over Easter, too. I suggested when and two weeks earlier announced to the staff that servers will be off at that time, no question.
