hello,
i have been asked to set up a hand in folder on my network,
set up the folder and allowed the pupils to write to it But will it allow them no 
what permissions should they have?
current permissions
parent folder read access for all pupils
hand in folder for year group just write access.
what am i missing?

24th November 2011, 06:16 PM #2 If you set just write, they should be able to copy and paste the work into there. They won't be able to actually save it in there though - when ours often try it just creates blank documents.

24th November 2011, 06:28 PM #3 We have prepared a similar folder for students. It has been setup on a 2003 server. There are two components to the permissions:
Sharing permissions [Second tab when right clicking the folder] Permissions given to students here: Full control.
Security [Third tab when right clicking the folder] Permissions given to students here: Not specified.
Within that shared folder there is another folder. This folder is not shared. Security on this folder: List folder contents.
Folders within the second [not shared folder] Permissions given to students: Write.
This allows students to drag and drop files from their home folders to the shared 'Hand In Folder' Once the file has been submitted to the folder students have no more access to the files.
Would that work for you?

it ended up as i had the folder sat in a share that was locked down so made new share with the permissions you had said and bingo worked
