live@edu document sync
not sure if this has been asked befor, i got a demonstration of live@edu yesterday and i like it, been looking into impleminitation, we are going to go for the new EES from microsoft to get all the cals and office/windows and i think i have everything worked out in my head in terms of syncing email users and passwords, the only thing i cant get my head around is syncyng documents to the skydrive.
what we need is for anything the user saves in there My Docs to be automatically synced to the skydrive so they have it at home, and from the skydrive to there documents in school so moving from one to aother becomes seamless.
the users my docs in terms of the students are all on the main DC server in the school under the shared folder \\(main-dc)\(username).
anyone have any advice? the person yesterday mentiond microsoft sharepoint 2010 as a possible solution, i think it comes with the EES we want to go with.

Perhaps don't plan to do documents until Office365 for Education turns up which includes some degree of SharePoint Online? There isn't as much storage space for users, but unlike SkyDrive the organisation gets to manage it. Don't ask me how/what/the extents of what you can manage though, or how you might sync docs to there.

It is possible to mount the skydrive via WEBdav, but it's a very awkward process as not all your users skydrives will end up being on the same servers at microsofts end. That and it's quite an awkward process to find out the server name in the first place, microsoft don't just give it to you, oh no that would be far too easy. There are a couple of utlities that exist which will make the process easy, mapping the drive simply by the users putting in their username and password, but to get full features from them you have to buy them. Automatically syncing them thou, not sure it can be done, or at least in the course of my research I've not discovered how to do it.
As said, wait for 365, it's more likely the features of this will allow what you want to a certain degree.

thanks, ill wait to see what office 365 can offer us, if all else fails i can build something myself that will do what we want. its still in the cloud if i do it technically as its hosted on the school servers.
