Exchange 2007 public folders
Installed exchange 2007 last week and trying to set up public folders which was very easy on exchange 2003.
Logging on as system administrator and going through outlook 2003. i can see the public folders but try and create anything in them it gives me a insufficent permissions message. I also get the same message if i try and drag and drop anything to this folder. From what i can see is the permissions are ok and i am granted full control on everything. but nothing is happening.
So far i spent a morning on this and not got any further!

Didn't they take public folders out of Exchange 2007?

I believe that is the case. You are meant to use Sharepoint now. Thanks MS.

Public Folders exist for this version, but they will be gone in the next. You are being encouraged to move over to Sharepoint Server 2007, or Windows Sharepoint Services which is FREE anyway so you cannot complain really.

Except that setting up public folders in Exchange is a piece of wee-wee and Sharepoint is a whole new thing to learn & support.

sharepoint is great.
been using it since it was first released.
BUT.
what ever you do, do not fiddle around with it to much it breaks and when it breaks it does it big time......

17th March 2008, 03:54 PM #10 You can also create them in the Exchange System Management MMC.

Bit like Exchange versions prior to 2003 then!

29th March 2008, 12:52 PM #12 The public folder support was missing in action in the RTM version of Exchange 2007 Management console. Install SP1 and voila...
You can always just use the Outlook client though as well...
Thumbs up for Sharepoint here too - using it for our intranet and replacement for the old StaffShare and StudentShares (eventually!).
