Hello all,
just out of interest what hardware do you guys use attached to copiers/prnters to release user jobs?
I only ask as i spend some time testing hardware and i was wondering what you guys think of it and how it shapes up on a live site.

@SOSAGES: Thanks for joining us!
To kick off, I don't use anything for holding jobs... simply charging the little darlings helps to make them responsible for their printouts.
Helloand thanks.
just stumbled on this site via a google alert.
Any reason you dont have hardware to release the prints/copies?
i know most sites consider cost to be the number one reason![]()

@SOSAGES: Cost and ease of configuration... it just seems to make sense to teach the pupils not to be wasteful in the firstplace too.
no plans to charge for copying then?

Managed by reprographics department - all photocopiers have inbuilt accounting systems too so that staff can enter a PIN and the jobs are charged to them.Originally Posted by SOSAGES
ahh embedded solution? is it pharos?

Don't know and don't really care... I am not part of the reprographics department and I don't do any photocopying... I don't even have a PINOriginally Posted by SOSAGES

Well you’re no good then
There is a lot of hardware out there it would be interesting to get feed back from admins/users i know some hardware is shocking id like to see what is getting used in the real world.
The embedded route is also very interesting.

My copiers that are pin protected have built in pin management, which i deal with, i download a CSV file from the machine and that gives me it to work with, shows everything its done in its life etc. Very useful tool. I can also do it on a GUI on the copier itself, but 300 codes gets a bit tyring on the touch screen on the machine and the bleep of the buttons gets annoying so the PC in the office is much better.
I can also print a report straight from the copier that shows the name assigned to the code and what copies, prints, scans and faxes its done since last rest, and they are shwon by size IE Large (above A4) or Small (A4 and below) so it works well for me.
