Remote Desktop Software
Hello everyone,
Just a quick question to get an idea of what remote desktop software you all, and to what extent? At the moment we use VNC on the staff room computers in order to help over the phone but that's about it. To what extent do the rest of you provision remote assistance for staff members?

I've been seriously considering in using remote assistance. I think it can be configured from GPO. I just need to work out how practical it is. Probably one for after summer with my workload tho

I assume you don't use this on computers where there is confidential and sensitive information flying about? That's one of my main concerns really.

On the contrary, it's used throughout the whole of the LA for support in schools.

We just use Remote Assistance on staff PC's/Laptops.
This way staff then have to grant you access, and you don't fall into the confidential data side of things.

30th March 2011, 09:33 AM #13 Use Dameware here. Absolutely superb.
Lan School is used in the suites by teaching staff.

30th March 2011, 09:36 AM #14 Use italc here, its opensource and free

30th March 2011, 09:48 AM #15 We use Skeep VNC for remote assistance of the staff machines: Skeep VNC Console
- It is just a free, basic VNC tool to remotley control machines, you can also remote onto servers from this colsole as well
In the ICT Suites we use LANSchool, each of the teacher machines in the suites have this installed & we have it installed in our office to oversee all the suites at the same time.
