We've got user quotas enabled on our network using the quotaing system built into windows storage server. The system is supposed to e-mail users when they reach near their limit, and again when they reach their limit, but it doesn't appear to do so.
It limits them and stops them saving files, but does not send out the e-mail notifications. It does however send the test e-mail correctly. Anyone got any idea what I might be doing wrong as I've run out of ideas!
Cheers,
Mike.

Theres a problem with that and theres a workaround but supposedly fixed in SP2 which is unconfirmed yet. Ric has posted about it before. His problems as others related to an R2 file server but it will be the same underlying technology no doubt.

Re: User Quotas.
never got the email notification to work
what does work is the user not being able to save and then calling me and then a quick remote desktop and then i increase the quota
its a great system!

We don't use quotas per say, however we do monitor disk usage. Our Nagios installation monitors all the servers disk space via snmp. It'll flag a warning at 75% usage. At that point we use WinDirStat to find out who's taking the p***. Usually it's a member of staff.

I got this working now, one call to microsoft and they e-mailed me through the hot fix which now means my storage server sends out e-mails as it should. Implemented it this morning, had 3 members of staff ring up already because they got an e-mail saying they'd used 85% of their quota!
