How to determine physical server age in the datacenter ?
Hi,
How to identify the server age (from the warranty) so that i know which one needs to be replaced / upgraded, it is all HP and SUN servers and I wonder what is the easiest way to get the server age / warranty status ?
apart from Spiceworks (if anyone know other option) I'm looking for the automated way because I got hundreds of servers in my current datacenter :-)
Thanks

2nd March 2011, 07:31 AM #2 Don't HP do something similar to Dells Open Manage ie
HP Insight Manager
http://www.hp.com/wwsolutions/misc/hpsim-helpfiles/mxhelp/mxportal/en/index.html
Other then that it may be a case of having a list of serial numbers in a spreadsheet / database and calling hp and going through start and end date on warranty info or emailing them the said list and getting them to fill in the blanks for you and emailing it back to you ?

I like Hightower's idea better though :-)
