Whole School Inventory
Just wondering if anyone else has to manage a whole school inventory and if so what they use for it?
At the moment we have everything from IT equipment to english text books in an excel spreadsheet with different tabs and I am looking to improve this (on the cheap).
Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated
Jason

Can you use a barcode on this software as we are trying to have an asset management system with barcode functionality?

whenever i have used a barcode scanner i have been able to scan a barcode into anything - word doc, notepad etc. You just need to ensure that the correct field in the webpage is selected.

Are you speaking in regards to GPLI or FOG. If it is FOG how do you obtain the copy?

In regards to GLPI,
Fog will do it all automatically. If the pc's are setup to network boot first you can run a Hardware Inventory where it boots the machines - scans the hardware reports back to the inventory and the machine is sitting in the list (under services).

15th June 2011, 02:45 PM #11 we use sharepoint lists a lot and now Spiceworks too

15th June 2011, 04:07 PM #12 Fog is an imaging system.
Spiceworks is good for inventories of things that have network cards. No network card = have to enter it yourself.

We are using Spiceworks as well but we need to have a manual entry system as well so that we have a network supported system like spiceworks and a manually entered system so that we can compare and contrast what Spiceworks picks up and what we pick up.
