    Show student name on task bar

    Is there a way to do this?

    I know you can change the AM and PM designations on the clock but using %username% just displayed %username% rather than the name of the student.

    Anybody know of an app that will display the name of the student on the task bar or notification area?

    Could use BGinfo to do it on the desktop?

    Can I ask why?

    just had a request to do it as its an easy way for staff to be able to know who a student is.

    I'm not sure exactly how you'd deploy this out to clients (or even if you could ) but on my own workstation I have a toolbar that links to my home drive but shrunk up so all I Can see is the title as per the attached image. Might be another way to go about it while also providing additional functionality to the users.

    Easiest way I've always found is to tap the Windows key as I walk past, as it displays the username on the log out button. Nice easy way of seeing it.

    BGInfo works well (we use it here) but if they have windows open you can't see it, in which case, you have to use the Windows key again... so may as well just do that in the first place

    Another method would be to change the "My Computer" text on the My Computer icon. This can be done by amending the Class ID 20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D in the registry to include %Username% and %Computername%. See below. This can be added to a Logon script or via Group Policy.

    echo y| reg.exe delete HKCR\\CLSID\\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} \\="My Computer"

    reg.exe add HKCR\\CLSID\\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}
    \\="%"username"% on %"computername"%" REG_EXPAND_SZ

    I think I might be able to deploy this with a change to the student profile
