Electronic Bulletin Board
Hello folks some advice please?
I have been asked to investigate the installation of an electronic bulletin board. I.E. large screen in reception area of school that can display messages/daily bulletin etc..
Can anybody with this type of system already installed please recommend a way to proceed. which company would you recommend contacting? How much is it likely to cost?
I will appreciate your comments on this - if someone has already discussed this perhaps you could point me to the appropriate thread.
Thanks

I use a 26" LCD tv, and a laptop with powerpoint on it. Simple!

I'm looking at a similar project. Some time ago a rep from Sedao paid me a visit and that system looks impressive. Well better than powerpoint anyway.
I'd like some other contacts to look at before I get quotes etc.

Yep, a large LCD screen attached to a computer is the best way to go. I'm currently in the process of scripting an AutoIt app that will be able to remotely run presentations, slideshows (photos and webpages), videos etc on a PC for this purpose as we'll be doing a similar thing soon.

I suppose it'd be quite easy to produce your own system. Have a web page designed with some php code that rotates the content every x-seconds. The content could be picked up from a MySQL database with a web front end that allows admin staff to update the system.
So the system would be on display on a large screen / projector via a computer hidden in a cupboard or something.
There's plenty of ways to do it. You could ask a talented VI Former to knock up the system in their spare time or as part of a project for A2-level ICT.
I know that when i did A2 ICT we had to produce a system for a company / third party that they were actually going to use so we could do interviews with the "client" / end user etc.
So, there's an educational slant on it
