Bump for RabbieBurns question...I'd like to know too.

I was pointed to this document:
Dynamic Distribution Groups
But Ive not had a chance to work through it yet.
Posted this elsewhere too, but this might be the best place for it..
The microsoft pages are seriously doing my head in at the moment, we're getting live@edu all setup and ready for the coming year but we want to use this olsync (or galsync or olma or whatever they are calling it these days) for AD syncing.
Issue that I am having is that I cannot seem to get the download for it from anywhere on the microsoft connect site..
I keep just getting sent round and round in circles saying that I dont have permissions etc (am logged in with our live@edu admin account), or ending up with just a txt file.
Anyone got any ides where/how I can get this ??
Jake

did you register your account with connect?

Whats the other thread, out of interest.

This one I think Live@edu OLSYNC files??

Thanks.. missed that thread. Good to see the UK live@edu guys are on here.. Their .au collegues have been invaluable with helping me.

Just thought i'd say, hi, i'm testing it too. luckily we have another school domain to use, so we're effectively LIve (no pun - honest!) with it now.
Just set up the Head of IB with it, and management will get one next week, so they can have comms while exchange is down in the summer to be upgraded.
we're looking at a real slow migration to the other system, possibly with a dual host situation where it hits our servers internally first and then bounces to the live one.
Not had many problems yet. bulk uploaded some accounts via csv.
managed to connect to exchange using outlook, and added a pst with my current email groups, then transferred up to exchange. it's a bit slow due to our connection, but seems to work okay.
I tried to get the account synching via imap to our own exchange, but it keeps erroring and i think it's our firewall blocking it.
my only worry is that our connection will never be good enough to have it completely hosted, as outlook keeps disconnecting and reconnecting.
Ben Nunney (the Live@edu deployment specialist who helped @Jake above) has written an extensive and comprehensive "Live@edu Implementation Guide".
Live@edu Implementation Guide - Microsoft UK Schools blog - Site Home - MSDN Blogs
It includes:
•How to structure your email domains
•Options for configuring your student IDs
•Switching your domains from your in-house servers to ours
•Managing domains where staff are on an in-house mail service whilst students are in the cloud
•Configuring Single Sign On
•Automating the synchronisation of your user accounts
•Setting up mail transport rules eg for banned words, mail filtering, domain restrictions etc
•Branding your mail service

Yup its a very useful guide, we will soon be getting our 3000 student accounts set up and ready to roll. Thanks again to Ben, been a great help indeed.

I coulda done with that a few months ago when I was doing mine!
@Jake; - Ive made some documentation thats got a load of screenshots, gotchas, etc etc as well if you might want to take a look if you get into any bother
That'd be great, can never have too much documentation![]()

just looking at that guide today, priceless!
I really must read the guide - Ben helped me with our implementation too!!!
