Alternative support to LA IT support

We have just had our annual contract come through for our LA Tech support and as usual I have to make sure we are getting best value.
We are currently paying about 8500 for support which covers hardware faults (RTB to fix), server support (Replace a faulty drive in raid) and general day to day problems (IE not displaying sites properly)

Now I like having the one number to call and a feeling of being part of a bigger team and knowing that the support are also supporting other schools in the area BUT I need to know that I can't do this for a lot less money!

Do other edugeekers have similar support with either their LA or a private company?

    Thanks

Doesn't seem too stupid - does it include parts for the computers/server?

    regards

Yep includes parts unless the item is a write off, then we buy a new one.

We get external phone/e-mail support and remote access for about 1500 pa I think it is.
Thats from a third party company.

A lot of the answers I find are on here though!

Just as a comparison we use the LA for admin support (harware, Sims, admin PC software, internet connection) but I'm employed by a group of schools for curriculum IT support (curriculum server, network, PC's etc, etc.), so I suppose its a bit of both here. Don't have the admin costs involved so can't compare that, but I'm only paid as a general IT tech.

We really only use the LA for SIMS and for contacting EMBC / Synetrix / Kingston Communications when we have internet issues, everything else we deal with ourselves.
