Does any have any software or other method that they use to stop the internet being used for one specific room at a specific time.
The teachers are asking for this so i would be very intrested what others are doing.

What are you using for web site filtering?
The ones I have used can block machines based on MAC address.
Otherwise, something like NetOp or NetSupport (exspensive just to switch off internet though).
My previous school had a really neat utility just for switching on and off internet to particular machines but annoyingly I can't remember what it was called. (just remembered with the help of Google)

ICT Network's (a wonderful company) Internet Access Manager is what we used to use for a while here. You can download it for free (I think) from here.
I say 'used' to use it because we moved over to using Dansguardian to do the blocking recently, which I personally prefer.
We have our network split into different vLANs for different rooms then ISA Server blocks access based on the clients IP address.
Of course, now the kids put games on their USB memory sitcks anyway!

I created a Hypertext Application (HTA) for this a while ago. It isn't as polished as other apps that cost lots of money, but it does the job.
Theres a huge post for this somewhere I am going to join this topic to that one.
Edit in fact its a sticky at the top of the windows forum.
