I remember seeing a tool ages back to would make a picture with different coloured squares but can't for the life of me remember what it was called.

I remember seeing a tool ages back to would make a picture with different coloured squares but can't for the life of me remember what it was called.
I came across SequoiaView a while back. Maybe what you're looking for?
Ubuntu (Gnome) has built-in disk usage. Not as detailed as SequoiaView, useful thou.
