... school songs, written by head teacher or out of copywrite.
Timetable: record 24th November
Sell: 4th December
Looking for some help here please:
I need to source, CD labels, jewel cases, case inserts - the inserts and labels are to be designed by the pupils (no they've not started yet)
And I need a way to produce the labels in-house
And I need a way to burn the CDs in-house
The task has just landed on my desk - I've never done this before and haven't a clue where to start. Any help would be much appreciated.

11th November 2009, 10:50 AM #2 What we did was make a copy in school then source it out to a company to produce in bulk. It was so much easier.
For discs you could look at UKDVDR. I've never used it but lightscribe?

Head says you have to order too many - we have boxes and boxes of previous year's discs left unsold
Thanks for this I'll take a look.

11th November 2009, 10:54 AM #4 As for the covers ect. most burning software has a application for making them usually just a drag and drop thingy, How many do you need to make? I did around 200 lat year and that took me about a week using my office machine.

Head is thinking in terms of about 100 - says a pupil might be able to do 10 in an hour x maybe 6 machines that'll give 60 per hour. Is that realistic?

You could try Lulu, or CafePress, similar print-on-demand services:
Self Publishing - Lulu.com
You upload your content, they deal with collecting payments, producing CDs and posting them off. You set a price above a given minimum, you get the difference between the minimum and the price you set.

11th November 2009, 11:15 AM #11 We bought a Microboards GX-2 for our cd/dvd duplication needs. They also do larger and smaller ones, depending on how many discs you produce.
It does direct on disc printing, and burns them. We make about 1000 - 2000 discs on ours per year now.

Do you have a link to this handy please? Sorry don't bother just found it - way too expensive, we don't have that much budget.

11th November 2009, 11:19 AM #13 MICROBOARDS Technology Support - Microboards GX Disc Publisher
That's the one we have. Rough estimate at price Microboards GX-2 Disc Publisher (GX2) from Kings Audio Visual
But you'll probably get better price if you ask some of the suppliers on here, etc...
