Just wondering if there was any sort of software or script that people new of to take screen dumps at regular intervals... I have some software that allows me to take regular shots on a webcam and output it to jpg... just wondering if I could do this for screen dumps....

11th November 2009, 10:43 AM #4 I had an idea about setting up a kind of messaging system where children could open a webpage and the picture just showed my screen with messages on it... also if i could use it on our display screens I could control them all from one central location? thought it would be easier to put a updating jpeg into html than to record a video etc...

You can't just have a central web page which you update?

A utility like mwsnap or something that u can configure to take screen dumps every few seconds and replaces the existing screen dump with the same name and use something like JavaScript to just refresh the same htm page every so many seconds that's a shorter period then the period your takng the screen grabs - u may have to tweak time settings
or
a vnc client or ab tutor that will do that for u

Yes, but if all you're displaying on the jpeg is text you can simply type whatever your messages are straight into the HTML page, cutting out the convert-to-an-image stage entirely. I think I might have misunderstood exactly what you're using this system for - are you simply display a page of text messages on a screen?
