if you add printers to active directory is it possible, if a printer has 2 queues on 2 different servers, to effectively have load balancing running so ad assigns print jobs to whatever queue is shortest. (win2k)
thx

Windows calls it Printer Pooling.

The printers need to be identical (same drivers) and setup on the same server. You then assign multiple printer ports to one printer.
If you have a Linux box around you can use LPRng to achieve the same with the benifit of being able to use different makes and models of printer in the same pool. LPRng also suppports load balancing accross multiple servers.
i think i want to do the opposite of that. printer pooling is many printers to one queue. i want many queues to one printer.

Thats printer re-direction is it not? I shall find a link for you.
