    Voice Recognition

I've been asked by a member of my Learning Support Unit whether we have any Voice Recognition software. In short, we don't - but do any of you use it in school?

What do you use, and do you recommend it?

    Re: Voice Recognition

We've looked into this in the past.

ViaVoice isn't worth the CD it's printed on. The only halfway decent one I've ever seen is Dragon Naturally Speaking

Yep, got dragon at home here. Works well however you absolutely must spend an hour or so training it.

I was afraid that you were going to say Dragon.......

I've just had a real laugh with the built-in Microsoft speech recognition tool... demonstrated it to a staff member and she was horrified!

    Re: Voice Recognition

I think the problem will be that most teachers wont spend the time it takes to train the software to their voice. Hence will assume it's 'broken' and wont use it.

We have Dragon and use XPs built in stuff. It's the kids here that have to train the s/w to thier voices - even worse!
