Hi folks,
Not sure what to call this kind of software, so took a guess at "Hardware Scanning".
Basically I have a sound card to install, but I'm not sure what make/model it is. Can anybody recommend some (FREE) software that might scan the hardware, discover what it is and let me know so I can get the right drivers?
Many thanks,
(P.S. I used to use some years ago but completely forgot the name of it, and hence can't find it now).

It will usually give you the chipset to download a compatibile driver
