Limiting printing.
In a school of 90 pupils with 20 staff we have managed to go through 800 euro of toner and 50,000 pages since February, and that's only on 1 printer!!!
How do I go about limiting the number of pages that people can print?
I'm thinking 50 pages per month for staff and 20 for pupils.

Look into something like this
http://www.softwareshelf.co.uk/files...ype=cat&ID=121
Can do all sorts of wonderful things to limit / record printing. There is a 1 month trial you can download if you like.

We use PrintManagerPlus which links to AD - can set various levels of control for groups, higher costs for colour printing, etc.. neat tool but not free im afraid

Re: Limiting printing.
there is also software called PCounter which i think does a similar job to Print Manager Plus, but again its not free product...
I need to look into something to help with printing, currently use the Viglen Print Quota, but this doesnt work with all printers as it depends on the printer drivers

Re: Limiting printing.
Yeah, that's me being stupid and not reading the fine print properly. Story of my life...
Looks like I'll go for the papercut anyway as it's a lot cheaper, especially when paying in Euro.

Although our Finance Department will only order things through Fax, we paid on a personal credit card and claimed the money back from petty cash.

Re: Limiting printing.
According to their website they will also invoice businesses based on a thirty day payment period.

Yes but you've still got to get funds to them in AUS Dollars presumably I know our school seems terrified of doing anything they don't consider normal with their funds.
Using a personal credit card is a bit dodgy for vat purposes I would expect.

They will also bill according to currency. I got a price in Euro which doesn't seem too bad and believe it or not my boss actually trusts my judgement

Re: Limiting printing.
This (http://www.printlogger.com/products/pl3/#1.) is free for anyone running NT and the new version for Win2K and 2003 seems to be about the cheapest I can find at 119€ (+/-£80) for a full site license with unlimited users.
