Blog Entries: 2 Rep Power: 27 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I subscribe to some UK based media content, which only allows me access when I am out the country, which is great for when I am traveling. However, there has been a couple of times in recent months when I could really do with having access to it from within the UK. Whats the best way I could get a reliable non-uk ip http proxy with enough bandwitdh for streaming media at ~ 1mbit/s. Ive thought about renting a server somewhere in EU/US and running squid, but seems a bit overkill for what I want, for the short 90 mins I will be needing it once every couple of months or so. Any suggestions what else I could do? |

I don't think this would be an appropriate place to discuss tools for circumventing such licenses. |

Hotspot Shield by AnchorFree it puts an add at the top of your browser but is easy enough to close. you start it up and it keeps Hulu, Pandora, etc. from recognizing that you are outside the US. Therefore, because the site doesn't know where you are from, it assumes the best and gives you access to all content Last edited by roty80; 15-01-2009 at 02:49 PM.. Reason: fact check |

Ill look into plexter's suggestion, can get a shell easy enough Ill just need to read up on how to get ssh acting as a http proxy. |

If they say anything about accessing things from outside the country they are intended for, then you would be breaching them by using a proxy of some form. If it is hosted in the USA, you'd even be breaching the DCMA at the same time... |

Blog Entries: 2 Rep Power: 27 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Terms And Conditions I signed up when I was living abroad, with a foreign CC, and foreign address. So Section 2.1, the only part that is of interest as far as I can see, is fine. It says no-where else in the T+C that should be causing any concern. It doesn't say they need to be notified of change of address that I can see. So having paid (substantially) for the content subscription, I want to be able to view it. I think I'm within the T+C's... |
