    Cool Dealing with inane questions

Ever had a member of staff come up to you or email you asking something completely random that you're just going to google because there's no way you would know the answer, or that they should have the brains to figure out themselves?
Here's one way of gently conveying that they don't need to be so reliant:

Let me google that for you

Which generates links like this one that you could send in your email reply.

I've yet to be given a reason to use this since I found out about it, but look forward to the next asinine enquiry now. Hope it brightens someone's day.

memeber of staff came in to my office last night as I was leaving work, pulled up a chair and started to rant about her boyfriend, and then asked me for relationship advice.

    WTF

... because us IT geeks have a great reputation for cracking interpersonal skills. Are you sure it wasn't an analogy about a broken PC?

Tell her to apply the latest updates and restart the relationship.
