    Baclup a partition with raid 5

    Can someone tell me how to or the best way to backup a partition or a disk (but preferabally a partition) to an image so i can restore it at a later date...

    boot a linux cd or usb disk.

    at command line do:

    dd if=/dev/sda1 of=/path/to/file.img


    this will back up the first partition of sda to an image file (which could be mounted on a remote server)
