Cheap projector security - I'm thinking a thick f*off cable?

I know you can get whole projector enclosures but at 14 x £200 each = my entire budget + 1 kidney.
We have got those little kensington locks but they ripped that off with their fingers. So I was thinking of those super-glue security plates but with a really thick cable (I think I could gnaw through the kensington ones). The cable would have to be quite long, so I could feed it though the 1-2metre boom and fix to the wall.
Anyone had experience of security plates? Can they just be cracked off with a screwdriver? Anyone seen some for thick cable? All for about 15 quid each?

BTW. The kensington lock did mean that our insurance paid out, so it was worth it; but with a £500 excess, ironically, you need to have a lot nicked to make it worth your while!

I've had projectors with enclosed security boxes stolen. They just pull the whole lot out of the roof, boom and all.

You can make up your own cables to whatever length you want. You need BIG crimping pliers, Felco cutters and aluminium ferrules plus whatever steel wire you want. The plates stick well to absolutely flat surfaces, but you can break plastic cases all too easily.

That would look bloody ugly - having a great big cage bolted to ceiling.
Also, in our school, way too expensive - about 40 projectors in total.

We've had a spate of thefts recently... something to do with football on tv i reckon.
Kensington locks are a joke, I've sen the video clip where someone opens the lock with a pen and a piece of loo roll.
As the original poster asked, does anyone know how good the stick on plates are?

Thanks. I think I will buy one to test and stick it to the side of an old monitor to see what damage I can do with a screwdriver!
