We used to use Liberum but since I did server upgrade this summer I am now looking for something new. Server 2008 seems a little new new for it from what I can see. I'm new to sql but from the few helpdesks I have installed and tried this week, I see a common pattern of either over complicated UI, messy layouts or the fact that you would need to log in to post a problem and without AD intergration it's a pain.
Something free, simple and able to host locally would be ideal. Liberum really did fill those boxes.

1st October 2008, 05:27 PM #32 We'vre got GLPI and OCS-inventory installed on our network. Its brill but im just looking into Spiceworks as it seems to be abit better at displaying the relivent info.
My vote (assuming it lives upto expectations) would be on Spiceworks as it just seems easier to install, manage, maintain, and then get the data out.

1st October 2008, 05:36 PM #33 GLPI and OCS-NG here. I may switch to RT at some point, as it has some features that I would like (the ability to merge tickets and have multiple requestors on a single ticket would be hugely useful).

Librium here.
Great, lightweight, simple to use.
Only flaw is the american date format.

If you're familiar with a bit of asp then you can tweak things around a bit to UK format...

Although the Liberum project appears to be abandoned there is a newer version of the Liberum Help Desk
http://www.scannsort.com/assigntrack...Track1.5.1.zip
It is a upgrade to the Jiraffe version of Liberum
There is also a forum for the Assign Track version
http://www.scannsort.com/BB/
I have it installed on a test server whilst I amend some of the terminolgy and tweak it to suit our school

2nd October 2008, 07:21 PM #38 One problem ive come across so far with Spiceworks is on a batch of PCs it is picking up the wrongt info for the serial number. I havnt had chance to look at this properly but OCS-Inventory doesnt have this problem.
