My brain has gone completely numb so I wouldn't mind a few pointers.
We have 7 digital still cameras and 2 digital video cameras which staff are allowed to use for whatever purpose. I'm trying to devise some sort of booking form for them to sign when they've taken one out or a booking system online they can use but I can't seem to get my brain in gear as to what should be on it.
I want some way of keeping track of who has booked what for when and knowing who has what camera out already, etc.
I've tried to adapt the Resources tab on the Booking System from Devizes School but it's not really working.
Anyone do something similar who could give me a few tips?
Thanks.

MRBS is a free, GPL, web application using PHP and MySQL/pgsql for booking meeting rooms. It's similar in concept to Netscape Calendar, but much cheaper!
Easily adapted to cameras, resources etc. MRBS: Index

15th August 2008, 11:16 AM #3 what should go on it ?
date / time of booking, period of how long item is being booked out for or being used, item details ie serial number, make , model and get some sticky labels or security tags and security tag each of them so that the security tag is linked to the serial number, make, model etc so when they book out security tag 1111 - this will be linked to camera model this, camera make this with serial number xyz and also who has booked it out ie teacher first and last name and where they are going to be using the camera that way if its not returned then you have a rough idea of where it should be.

We use the Devizes booking system here and the staff find it easy to use and the technicians have a TFT screen in their office always showing the resource booking page so we can see instantly who has booked what - we do however insisit that they can't book a camera on the day they need it as they need to provide 24 hours notice.

16th August 2008, 05:25 PM #5 There is this: R & R
From ITS, it's very new, apparently they only have about 6 people using it at the moment... not sure if this is a good thing or not. They have been doing MyPC computer booking system for a while, and appear to have branched out.
They will happily do a demo online or on-site for you.

27th October 2009, 09:49 AM #7 Sorry to resurrect an old thread. It's all well and good adapting the room booking systems, but has anyone found a decent system that is actually designed for booking out of resources?
I'm after a system that will allow me to add all the information about an item of equipment (serial, lens). But more importantly I want to be able to see who's had which camera in the past and potentially print out a usage report.
I'm quite close to starting to make one my self- My PHP is a bit rusty though!

27th October 2009, 09:55 AM #8 We use Devizes school booking system, it'll not allow you to record information about the item you're lending out (serial etc) but it will allow you to track where an item has been etc.

28th October 2009, 12:30 PM #11 phpScheduleIt is a good one! That's the one I've been looking at "putting up with".
I'm going to have a search to see if I can make do with a video renting package. The main thing I want to do is be able to book out equipment and then return it. phpScheduleIt allows the booking, but there's no real way of giving a 'return'.
