Hello,
I am thinking about trying to implement a solution that will enable staff at our school to access their user areas from outside the school (remotely). They can currently access their emails remotely so I thought it would be useful if they could also access their files to.
What would be the best/easiest way of achieving this? Has anyone thought about or has successfully implemented a system in their school/place of work?
When run Windows Server 2003 here btw.
Suggestions welcome

24th April 2008, 12:58 PM #2 We use WebDav for this. Teachers and student have access to their home folders and also to shared resources. Fairly easy to setup, but make sure you use https.

you know Novell netdrive. Do you need a Novell network to implement that or have you implemeneted that with just a windows network and its there as an added level of security?
thanks

No not at all. It's just a standalone utility. All it does is bypass the rather broken windows XP webdav implementation and and present webdav urls as a network drive mapping.

We just give users instruction on how to create a network place that points to their WebDav enabled homefolders. They then just open the network place when needed.

We put a fully fledged system in using Citrix (Presentation server and an Access gateway)
Works very well. Staff have access to home folders, the intranet, email and lots of networked applications that they normally use in school.
Costs a bit though!

Fair enough, but the bugs were generating too many support calls for our liking. So we recommend netdrive now.
