    Migrate to FireFox

Firstly, what do people think to dumping IE and moving to FireFox?

Is there a version of FireFox with all the plugins etc included that can be MSI'd to our comps?

At the minute we change proxy depending on staff/student using a batch that changes the registry, is it easy to do this for FireFox?

Try http://www.frontmotion.com/Firefox/fmfirefox.htm they have an MSI package and AD policy templates.

I'd love to do it but am not able to lock it down sufficiently just yet [using the ADMs linked above].

Generally it's not yet posible to completely ditch ie - there are those sites that aren't w3c compliant that just wont work in FF.

We use group policy groups to set the proxy.

You need to use a custom theme if you want to disable menu items/toolbars/buttons/etc. Look at the XUL file(s).

Could try adding in the IETabs plugin or similar. This uses the IE engine in a Firefox tab. Gives a little button in the bottom corner that you can click on to chage engines, it refreshes and away you go. Have heard some describe it as making FireFox compatible but it is not, it is the same as opening up IE but in a firefox window. I guess from that you would still need to keep up to date with IE security updates.
