Some of the plans for the newly refurbished science labs didn't really take into account the space a PC would take up in front of a SMARTBoard, whilst the base unit can fit on a shelf that isn't partcuarly wide the monitor and keyboard tend to take up more space.
I had a thought while I was talking to the Head of Science about it: it might be viable to install wall mounted articulated arms in those situations to allow the monitor, keyboard and mouse to be repositioned out of the way.
Typing it out, it sounds a bit over the top. Has anyone used it or tried it before?

I'm not a fan of wall mounted arms as the children (and staff) tend to lean or swing on them.
One of those wireless keyboards with an integral mouse could help; could a TFT monitor be mounted directly on the wall?

Might want to try something like www.linitx.com or a Google search for "car PC" for wall-mountable computer cases and screens.

We had the same issue in our Science Labs. I got slimline towers and fixed them to the wall using shelf brackets. A wireless keyboard/mouse and there's no need for a separate monitor.

We have used wireless keyboards and mice before, my concern is that they are far easier to go missing and more expensive to replace. Has anyone found a way of mitigating this risk... and don't say tie them to the wall.
