    Laptop management - upkeep

I'd like to see how other people manage their laptops, by which I mean booking, damage, repairs, holding people accountable for damage and keeping track. In an ideal world we could check the laptops every day for damage but running 50> this isn't viable. Any information would be great!

Good luck, is my advise! We took to checking them every week if possible and encourage departments to report problems to us. Managing mobile devices can become a full time job if you let it. Try to put the onus back on other members of staff using the kit to take responsibility. As for damage, we tend to foot the bill. We've got so many spares now that we can usually cobble something together.

In trolleys, in depts, They get fixed when they tell use and the dept is charged for breakages. With a dozen trolleys there is no other sensible way to do it. We'll check them over if we have major updates to do. Which really means that we'll fix any that that we can't update without fixing. But that is normally a school holiday job.
