    On a related note;

    I ran that as sysadmin on my desktop, to see if anything was failing, and I'm being told RSoP is unable to generate data.

    Details: invalid namespace.

    RSoP has always worked for me. If there are issues run gpresult /h gpo.html from a command prompt as admin to dump the applied GPO settings into a readable HTML document.

    I tried that too... similar error. [Drinking coffee in the staffroom, not near a computer I can use to check]

    Le EDIT: "INFO: The user [domain]\me does not have RSOP data."

    It will dump it into C:\Users\%username%

    Although you can specify any path you want. For example:

    Gpresult /h c:\gpos\gpo.html

    That's most odd. Does it work on for another user?

    Does oobe\info\backgrounds contain any other files or just that one?

    Found this document: Group Policy not applying for just one user….. “INFO: The user does not have RSOP data” | Netspoon

    It might help, or it might not.

    does the custom background not have to replace the background.jpg in the oobe\ file or am i barking up the wrong tree? otherwise how does it know which file to actually use?
