    Centralized management of printers

    Just wondered if you guys had any recommendations for software to monitor the ink levels/rollers/transfer belts of all the printers in the school. Something where you can set your own custom alerts.

    Hands down - Papercut NG. Not sure if it does rollers and transfers, atleast not by default. No doubt some enterprising coder has written scripts for various makes/models.

    Papercut will do it, as will Nagios or Observium or most network monitoring apps (Spiceworks does too, I assume).

    Note that Observium expects you to have DNS entries for the kit you're monitoring (either in a local hosts file or on your DNS servers). See attached screenshots.

    I use spiceworks to once a day email the person in charge of ordering about ink levels.
