Backing up Large Volumes of Data
We currently have 8Tb of staff, student and share data that we are trying to backup. This data is stored on SAN and then accessed through 2 x file host nodes. We currently backup using backuppc ontop of ubuntu. We have found that using SMB on backuppc meant that our full backups were taking over 4 days to complete meaning that they weren't completing during the space of the weekend. We decided to try adding our backup server to the file fibre channel cluster so that it uses the Fibrechannel network to access the data instead. However this is now taking longer than before.
Does anyone else backup this amount of data? If you do what do you use and how are your backups set up?
