Card entry type setup
Not school-related, but hoping you can help.
I've got a client who wants a very basic system, supply a card to a member, containing name and last date paid info.
Then, upon swiping, said information is displayed on the monitor. No more features than that required.
I've never dealt with any of these things before, can anyone point me in the right direction?

You can get swipe card / RFID proximity card readers that will act as USB keyboards when plugged into a computer, they just "type" the serial number of the card into the computer for you. They don't read any other data off the card, just the serial number, so you use that serial number as a record key for a database containing the actual data you want to record.

Funnily enough I was asked for the same thing today. They have a card reader and a computer, but no back end to record who is in the building. I am currently trying to find a software package that would allow people to swipe in and out and for a database to keep track of this. Along time ago I used to use something called Pass.

Could you make something in Access using a CMS-type template? Then use the serial number that the card reader picks up to search?
