Macromedia Studio MX 2004 (with Flash 7.2 update) - serial issues!
Yonks ago, I put together a scripted installed for Studio MX 2004 and it was all good. Assorted setup.iss files, copy Macrovision folder to all users profile, and install the multi-user patch. All fairly painless.
The only thing I could never get to work was that if I updated the Flash component to 7.2, then the serial number was no longer accepted.
I faffed about with snapshots etc, but could never get it to work - Flash 7.1 - fine. Add 7.2 - you need to manually re-enter the serial.
So I never bothered putting 7.2 on, and nobody cared
Which was fine up until we've moved to Windows 7. Which NEEDS 7.2 otherwise it bombs out after a couple of seconds.
I see a few folk on here have apparently got MX2004 scripted. Does this include 7.2? If so, how the blithering heck did you do it??

Upgrade time I think. The software is almost 10 years old.

We created an MSI for it. I think if you unpack the EXE there was one hidden in one of the cab folders, or we took a snapshot of the PC before the update, installed it, then took the second snapshot with winstall 2003
We then just deploy the msi after the main package has been installed.

I'd unpacked the downloaded setup file (update_fmx2004_7.2.exe) so I had a folder with setup.exe, a couple of CABs etc. That's what I'd been using with a Setup.exe -s switch (same as the other parts of MX2004, really).

Mind you, if I MANUALLY install the 7.2 updater on top of my 7.1 version it still breaks the serial code/activation.
Are you - perhaps - using a different updater?

I had Studio MX 2004 components installed on Windows 7 and Flash worked fine without the 7.2 patch.
Dreamweaver needed updating to 7.0.1 I think to get around some issues but Flash was perfectly happy just running on version 7 with the multi-user patch installed.
Are you deploying the studio as a whole or as individual components?
