We use a company called Recycool. Sign up and grab an account and they will come and pick them up, as well as give you a little bit of money for the cartridges/toners recycled

We either send back to mfr if post-free label is provided, or give to a charity that collects for hearing dogs for the deaf.

We donate them to the Happy Days children's charity - they provide trips and holidays for sick kids. They collect them free of charge. http://www.happydayscharity.org/support_recycling.html

We use the charity Actionaid (www.actionaidrecycling.org.uk). They take toners, ink cartridges, olg PDS's and mobile phones as well.

Just as a note, if you're "lucky" enough to have a department that invested in Canon Pixma printers (PGI-5K and PCI-8C/M/Y cartridges) then you can't recycle them too easily.. they get binned...

BUT... I'm collecting them (although not in 1000's!) to make use of the chips and cartridges in various test and other rigs.. so, if you have any please drop me a line via PM..

Is this true?? do they actually give you money back? How do they send it, cheque form?

    Tim

PS, not going to work for us anyway... we use compats

PPS, but we are currently using dogs trust, 01635 876900 and they are a free connection, plus they give you a cardboard box to put them in, tape that up, ring them and they collect.

timbo343 - they give points towards their rewardsforschools scheme (50 points per cartridge, 250 points per phone recycled). An example of the rewards available - an optical mouse is 3000 points. An imac is upwards of 60,000.

    IIRC anyway.

Up to recently they sent out cheques, now they do a BACS transfer to the school accounts.

We've raised about £200 this year from carts being donated from businesses, parents, etc.

we use cartridge cashback. We pack them up and let them know the quantities. They collect and send us a payment

    Re: Recyling Toners and Cartridges

we use collect 4 school http://www.collect4school.co.uk/ who give us a small amount of money for those cartridges that can be re-used. Never been sure if the school actually gets any money, but just glad to be rid of them as their collections are free! Also they don't care what they take, none of this we'll only take certain cartridges business, they take the lot.

Also they'll provide collection boxes free of charge, and collection envelopes which can be given to students to bring in cartridges from home for recycling. We've never done this, but the idea is good.

    Re: Recyling Toners and Cartridges

I use www.emptycartridge.co.uk for all my used toners. Their list of acceptable cartridges/toners is quite extensive plus THEY GIVE YOU MONEY BACK AND PICKUP IS FREE! Currently getting around 32p for the minolta and 20p ish for the Oki's.

I couldn't decide or didn't really agree with some of the 'charitable' recylcling companies. Example would be Oxfam - they use a third party that collects the units but then oxfam only get a small kick-back from that.

With the guys I use, we get a cheque from them and we can donate that to any charity we see fit.

Give them a call, they're usually very helpful.
