Anyone know if you can lock down the control panel on this printer to prevent kiddies messing with the network settings? I can lock down the web admin bit but that's about it.

i believe you can lock it down so no-one can fiddle, but how, I am not sure. We haven't done it on ours in the couple of years we have had them, and no-one has fiddled with them though, so we havent had to lock them down!
The network settings are quite deep in to the menu, so the kids would have to be up there for a while to fiddle that much....and if the teacher doesnt notice it happening, they should go to Specsavers!!
Theres an option to lock the control panel in HP's Web JetAdmin. It's a free download on their website but cant say for sure where as we got it a while ago.
Also allows you to config a bunch of printers at once 8)
If you don't want to install the HP JetAdmin software, you can do it with a few scripts. See the following HP link:

I've attached a zip file which contains the scripts that we use here. All you have to do is map the (presumably networked) printer to the LPT2: port as so:
net use LPT2: \\server\printershare
then run one of the scripts. There are various levels of lock, and I've provided scripts for 'Off', 'Moderate' (which gets rid of quite a lot of settings) and 'On' (which gets rid of pretty much everything). We tend to use 'On' for most printers, as under 'Moderate' you can still change the Copies setting on most printers, which is one of the more annoying ones. Unfortunately 'On' also disables the Cancel Job button if you have one - but that's just the price you have to pay.
You can set a password as well if you want to so that the lock can't be easily disabled, but we haven't found this to be necessary in our environment.
Thanks guys for your input. I've managed to lock the printer now.
