I'm assuming most of the MIS systems have something handy for things like tracking student/teacher/parent bookings - unfortunately, we don't have one!
All I need to be able to do is match students and teachers to a single time slot per appointment and spit out a nice timesheet per student or per teacher... Has anyone knocked up an access database or similar they'd care to share?
My access skills seem to have gone far beyond rusty after having a play yesterday and confusing myself horribly. Even a pointer to some A level style tutorial (I assume that's only the level that this kind of minor DB would be at) would be good.

Re: Parents Consultation Time/Booking Database
It should be possible modify MRBS(web based apache/php/mysql) to do this. Could allow the students to book their own appointments at home or just in school and gives a nice print out. The teacher doesn't really have to do anything, except book the appointments himself for those students he wishes to see at a certain time.

What MIS are you using as SIMS have a package which is a little bit hidden away for doing it

Or Class Room Bookings?
Set each teacher up as a "Room" set the timed perdios you want.
Voila online booking of teachers.

A bit overcomplicated for the front desk/reception to operate - we're a school for kids with speech/language/learning difficulties so it won't be a case of them booking their own appointments - just need something very simple for the office staff to track bookings in then send back out to parents/teachers.

We have no MIS at all to speak of. Bit of a white elephant which shall remain nameless picked up at a BECTA show I think but it's not in use... No timetabling/booking facilities in that.

I had an idea to look for things like this which could be modified but came up a blank. Is 'Class Room Bookings' something in SIMS or a separate package found online? Can't seem to find anything about it from a quick google.
Thanks for the ideas so far

I'm assuming you're talking about parent evenings? If so, we use http://www.parenteve.com/.

From the screenshot, it looks like a polished version of the headache inducing Excel sheet/Word combo we have at the moment. If I can't come up with anything else I'll try mentioning it to SMT.

Class Room Booking System aka CRBS produce by one of our own on here.
Once any of these are set up it's easy enough for the front desk staff to use.

SMT.
Trust me! £20 a night is not a lot. We had a member of SMT organising ours in the past and this would involve about 2 hours a day for 4 weeks... It is a significant ROI I can tell you.
