After having no problems before with Toshiba laptops and sending the video signal to a projector, I have now got problems!!! I have a Toshiba L100 but I can't for the life of me get the image to display on the smartboard through the projector. When I press FN+F5 the screen blips but no image appears. I checked display properties and set the screens to primary and secondary (did notice that the icons denoting primary and secondary have changed from icons to numbers now?) but still no joy. Have rebooted the laptop, pwered off and on the projector but still no joy. Any ideas anyone. Do remember someone else having problems before on here, how or did you solve it?

Have you tried connecting it up to a monitor instead of a projector to double check there's no problem?
I seem to remember with some of our Toshiba's the hot key combination seems to do naff all and you have to go through the systray control for the display instead... Not sure which models it was though...

Just tried it with an LCD and a CRT monitor and no image is displayed
Any more ideas how to get it to send the video signal to the external screen?

Re: Toshiba Laptop and Second screen
It is generally the whole display is it, and not just a DVD? This is a common issue.

What resolution and frequency are you running the primary display at?

From memory the primary display was running at 100Hz and at 1024x768. Tried it at 800x600 and made no difference. Yes, its with the whole display, not just a part of it i.e. playing a DVD, just can't get any image at all. LCD screen recognised that the video cable was plugged in but then gave 'no signal' no matter what I tried.

Re: Toshiba Laptop and Second screen
Have you updated the video drivers?

Will download them and try again. Just had a look at the Toshiba site and the date of the display driver on there is a good few months before we bought them but I'll check the driver version next time I'm in. They are ATI drivers, do I have to use the toshiba supplied drivers or shpuld I go and find some later ATI drivers?

Try reducing the refresh rate - 100Hz sounds a bit high, especially for a projector.
Most TFT's and Projectors seem to like 70 or 75Hz.
Might be worth a try.

I'd try dropping the Hz. 100 is quite high

This laptop was one that was as delivered from the Toshiba dealer we use, all I did was add the software we use. I'll check the latest version of the utility and see if its much later than the one thats instaled. Thanks for the suggestions, at the moment I've run out of ideas (apart from the obvious that the laptop is broken!) so any suggestions (within reason of course) are welcome
