If you use hyperv it is all familiar mmc point and click stuff. Not that xen server and VMware aren't just you will presumably be more familiar with MS
VMware ESXI is so easy to configure for a basic setup like that (pretty much install it and away you go) - it only starts getting mega complex with multiple ISCSi devices - VCenters etc etc never used Hyper-V in anger so can't comment on that.
One critical item of hardware often overlooked is the UPS - check how old it is and consider replacing, especially if adding hardware.
One other thing - if you end up going down the EES route you get their security facility FOC, so you can consider using this as and when your next AV renewal comes up.
Vm sounds great then. UPS, good point, check. AV, hmm, I think we have an LA Sophos agreement... Will have to double check that. Right.. that's great thanks guys. Will go check up on that hardware and read up on EES etc.
Can anyone give me a rough idea of pricing please for EES etc. Thanks
Depends on how many staff you have. Different tier price plans depending on staffing levels
I believe it goes like this
Special 3-19 school with 110 pupils.
From another thread... £65 outright for Windows & Office per PC, or £38 per ft staff member annually.
What are the extras EES provides?
Looking at the staff room, I'd say less than 27 staff
Technet/msdnaa subscription for a year. Various test platform's open to you.
