We installed Zimbra over the Holidays, the 7.2.1 Network Edition on Ubuntu Server. Support has being great but there appear to be a few bugs and strange error messages.

It Authenticates against AD so users don't have to remember different passwords etc. There are scripts to bulk create clients etc.

You can get it to talk to an external GAL I think.

Distribution Groups can be made and Send permissions to these groups can be limited to Zimbra users or members of the group. There doesn't appear to be any direct group integration with AD however.

Class Of Service can be configured for different users to tie the interface down, different mail box quotas and preferences can be set for the user.

We have it backing up volume on a seperate SAN which is merely attached to the Zimbra VM and mounted as a share within the Linux OS and this works well and can be set to email when it has been backed up for reassurance, have restored a few mail boxes so far.

Ok not as good as exchange but a lot cheaper.
