Is there a reason why it is just those file types, and not PPT, PDF or JPEG as well?

I think it's cause they are zip files really (docx, pptx, xlsx).
Hmm, just had an Idea for v8, a homework drop box folder. Staff create a homework folder, students can drop their own files into it, staff can then download the students work in a ZIP file and close the work folder. This would unfortunately work on the c:\ of the local machine, though I may make that path optional
Homework drop boxes would be excellent - please make the location optional though, as many staff don't have access to their own C drives. If one needs to be hard-coded, could you instead use a %location% to point to MyDocs, be that the network Documents folder or the one on their computer at home?
it would be saved to a admin defined folder, in the structure of:
UNC Path
- Teacher
- - Homework Name
- - - Students Name
- - - - Work.....
Can you give weeks in the booking system names other than week 1 and week 2 and also what about an option when booking a room that the user can set how many machines the user requires so another user would know they can share the room.
As per my other post, could you control the list of names for Booking and Helpdesk separately - I want teaching and support staff to be able to create tickets, and may well extend it to some students (certainly Sixth Formers, and maybe prefects and form captains too), but only teachers need to be able to book IT Suites.
+1 for Ragbuster's suggestion of specifying class size too. We encourage that in our current booking system, so it would be nice to have in this too.
Support for mobile devices, particularly Android and iOS.
Sorry - BETTER support for Android and iOS :) Basic View is too basic.
I actually point all our users at Basic View even if they're capable of running Extended, as it does what they need it to. You can view files, delete and rename files and upload - anything more than that can be done from within school. Possibly you're asking more of it than that.
Er, this is "feature requests", there is no "asking more of it than that" in this forum. It's about giving ideas for future versions, not stating what it is currently capable of. Just because it happens to load on mobile devices does not mean that there is inbuilt support for them. Have you tried to upload a file from an iPad using basic view? No support for Silverlight = error messages that confuse users and no access to the file system makes it all but impossible to upload a file from an iPad. Sure I can open the file in Dropbox etc but this is a workaround. Perhaps build in browser detection and load the best view possible rather than allowing the user to choose.
Perhaps a HAP app.
Settle down! I never said you're asking too much of the "feature request" forum, what I said was that you are asking more of the SOFTWARE than we do if Basic View isn't suitable for you.
That said, I haven't tried using it much from an iPad as yet (my iPad guinea pig has been off school recently). I'm not sure how many people would spend long working from an iPad though - the people I know with them use them for browsing, emailing, etc but head to a PC/Mac if they want to type anything very long.
Settle down? ... :yield:
From what I have read elsewhere @nickbro is moving the system to HTML 5 which may provide better compatibility with mobile devices. Also the 'myfiles' update for v8 (currently in beta in v7.6) contains a layout change. This may do what you need?
