I have both rooms and kit in my web.config set up like this:
However i think that when i go to book a laptop i get the room booking popup (equip popup should have more options than year, subject and username?)

When the system sends out an email for a piece of kit it says "Year 7 Maths in during Lesson 4 on Day 6" makes no mention of the kit but there is a double space between "in" and "during".

Try setting it to be type laptops
I have done but it requests things like quantity of laptops, we're only lending out one in this instance. Plus we have some cameras to lend also.
I think the main problem is it is sending out a ITRoom email for an Equipment booking
